A busy summer at the Alerus Center

Just days after the announcement that the Alerus Center will soon play host to Nickelback, now word that Blue Man Group is making a return trip to Grand Forks (Herald story). Both of these concerts are in addition to the Martina McBride/Little Big Town concert scheduled for July at the Alerus Center.

A big country concert, a big rock concert, and a big [whatever genre the Blue Man Group is] concert - not a bad summer lineup for the Alerus Center, in my opinion. It certainly seems to be a better lineup than any event center in the immediate region has had for quite a while.

Now, if we could just keep having concerts like these all year, every year.

Blue Man Group is VERY good! I went to their show at the Alerus, and it genuinely was the most energetic, entertaining show I had ever seen.

HIGHLY recommended!

too bad Nickelback sucks.

Nickleback is one of the top bands out there right now. IDIOT!

If by "top" you mean "safe," then yes, I agree. Idiot.

Nickelback should draw well, especially from Winnipeg, since the band won't be appearing there on this leg of the tour.

They can be a little formulaic at times, but they're one of the tightest bands around and put on a great show.

Wasn't Little Big Town in GF in December? Dec. 30 I think...

If no one goes the first time, doesn't mean they'll go the second (in less than 6 months!).

Yes Little Big Town was here in December and I personally thought they were awesome. However, I assume most will be going to see Martina mcBride, not Little Big Town since they are only the opening act.

Nickelback is a terrible, terrible band. I'm quite saddened to hear that they're coming to town, because this means they're going to be playing their music on the radio like the lead singer died.

well at least the alerus is being put to use for a change. who cares if theres events you dont like, that doesnt mean you have to go!!!!

$50 for Nickelback on a Tuesday night? I don't think so. Maybe, just maybe, they'd be worth seeing on a weekend night so you could get a few beers to dull the senses enough to make their boring, droning "music" sound ok, but heck...a Tuesday??? "How the hell'd we wind up like this" with our only "rock" shows in town so lame??

Yet, drj, you'd be more than willing to run out, get thrashed so you could "enjoy" an ACDC or Metallica concert.

Quit your griping and let others who like this type of music have their concert.

Also, joshtee, if you don't want to hear Nickelback's music on the radio all the time, there's a nifty thing called a volume dial or power button that I'm sure your antiquated radio still has on it.

Sincerely,
~ G

I guess, if you call three events, one occurring in September, a busy summer...
