Anything interesting you want to mention?

YouTube has some love for Grand Forks, as well, GFG... You know, I hadn't done it up until just last night, but if you do a search for "Grand Forks" on YouTube, several video's come up. Some not so interesting, others VERY interesting. There are LOTS of videos from the news-coverage from the Flood of '97. It's interesting to me, anyway, since I've only lived up here since 2004. Certainly, no disrespect to those of you that went through this ordeal, but it's interesting to see how much you all went through. It makes me, in many ways, proud to be living in a city that's made this much progress in the 10 years since...

I fixed the background at Dakota Roar since people couldn't see to read. I don't know if it's interesting, but I felt like mentioning it.

when is GF (or a developer) going to start building much more residential development in Downtown GF?

Anonymous, I would love to see more housing downtown, but I think the only projects currently underway are the Elite Brownstones and The Current apartment building. Both projects are going up on North Third Street kitty-corner from each other.

Has anybody heard anything about any more projects coming up? What about that old YMCA/Grand Forks Community Center building on North Fifth Street? Some developer had bought it and was going to put condos or apartments in it. Is anything going on with that?

The developer that bought the old YMCA building purchased it to sell it off for profit. The location of the building is worth more than the building itself.

I had heard that old Griffith's building was to be converted to apts or condos. Anyone else?

Since the Alerus Commission, City Council, and The Herald won't do their jobs and disclose the operating loss of The Alerus last year, can a citizen submit a public records request and demand the information? What are the steps to initiate the process?

It is so sad what The Grand Forks Herald has become. Don't they ask the hard questions anymore? Maybe the paper needs to rotate the city beat reporter once a year so they don't become so complacent.

I agree. Cough up the info kids. Man, the alerus commission is so slimey. Maybe time to clean house. When they were supposed to report the '06 financials to the city council, instead they show up with a lapdog regurgitating BS about the economic impact to the town.

The citizens deserve better. They've obviously deemed the project a failure a tuned out.
