Open Thread #14

I have a feeling we'll be getting plenty of newcomers thanks to WDAZ's reports airing tonight, so I thought it would be a good time to start a new open thread.

Anybody noticed the new "Snap" website preview feature yet? If you don't have a clue what I'm talking about, put your cursor over a web link and wait a couple of seconds. Cool, huh?

Yeh. What's it mean?

Anyway to disable it on the user's end?

The snap thing is a usability barrier. It is a waste of bandwidth (I am STILL downloading previews) and you are previewing text-based sites, so the compressed screenshots add nothing for the user.

Why do I want to look at unreadable screenshot, blocking the view of the site I'm currently looking at?

Your site is slow enough w/ all the widgets, this one, while it might be "cool" is superflouous.

The DAZ report, this evening, should be interesting.

I'll be watching..."anonymously".

If the preview thing is so bad I guess I'll just to remove it...but it's so cool! :(

The Alerus Commission won't disclose what the property lost last year. That doesn't sound good.

Also, what about the catering? I thought The 'Nad wanted it.

Anybody know?

Regarding the Alerus, as much as I don't really want to see it happen, I think it is probably time to implement the pay-to-park plan. If the Fargodome didn't have such a plan, they too would have been in the red in 2006. I think pay-to-park at the Alerus would hopefully get us close to breaking even.

Does anybody know during what types of events the pay-to-park plan would be enforced? Surely it wouldn't be enforced for a small meeting, a wedding reception, or a small banquet. I'm thinking we're talking about concerts and sporting events here. Anybody?
