More construction in Kohl's development
I was using my $10 coupon at Kohl's the other day and I couldn't help but notice all of the activity taking place next to the new store. Work has really started on a brand new building right to the east of Kohl's. The foundation for the store is already being put in...and to think it was just bare dirt a week or two ago! It gives the impression of being a large building and it looks like it will actually touch Kohl's.
I'm still not 100% sure what the building's tenant will be, but I'm almost certain it will be the new Ashley Furniture store I broke the news on a couple of months back.
I think it is great to see so much commercial development taking place in Grand Forks. There are so many projects on the south side that have just been completed, are currently under construction, or will soon be under construction...32nd Avenue is really experiencing a building boom!

I could care less about Ashley Furniture as I am excited for the Golden Coral.
Well, that's under construction right in front of Kohl's.
Eventually the buildig has to level off. Declining population, and builiding more businesses that will have built-in competition is a bad business move.

Declining population? Grand Forks is growing.
I thought Ashely Furniture was going into the old Planet Pizza building.

Gee...I haven't heard anything about that. Where did you hear this?
What's going in front of Office Max?
Texas Roadhouse will be in front of Office Max. Golden Corral will be in front of Kohl's.
The old planet pizza will be a glass store (I read the building permit in the window - weird, I know). I can't remember the name, but I would imagine it will be a little while before it opens, as it is just starting the re-model.
anonymous #1 - how in the world do you figure that the population is declining...even the cencus bureau, with the most conservative estimates, has the population of GF growing.
Isn't Grand Forks County losing population but the town slightly increasing?
Probably because of Wal-Mart. ;-)

Ben...what kind of glass store? Like an eyeglass store? That whole building that Planet Pizza used to be in is really good sized. It would be nice to see the entire property upgraded.
Just thought y'all would like to know that the Golden Corral was franchised by the same guys that has several IHOP's. So maybe an IHOP will be coming after all.
I talked to a salesman from then Ashley Furniture store in Fargo. For what it's worth, he stated the Grand Forks store would be "right next to Kohl's".
The glass store is called "Dakotaland Glass". I am guessing it will compete with GF Glass and Paint for commercial glass for storefronts, doors, etc.
ok - sorry...I was wrong. I googled Dakotaland Glass (the name on the construction permit) and it stated the company was an auto glass store - windshields and the like.
