Bobbi's opening Saturday

Bobbi's Clothing, the new women's clothing store I've mentioned previously, will be opening for the first time this Saturday. It is located in the new strip mall in front of Kohl's. "Bobbi" was the manager of the old Casual Corner store in Columbia Mall. When that store closed, she decided to open her own store. The new store should sell coats, sweaters, career separates, denim, shoes, jewelry, etc.

I think it is great to hear of a new locally owned business opening up in the chain-heavy 32nd Avenue retail area. I like to see a mix of local businesses and chains. To me, that is indicative of a healthy business community.

Apparently, an "exclusive" shoe store will also be opening in the same strip mall early next year.

BTW, thanks to the GFL reader who sent me this tip by email. I always appreciate tips!

According to my tipster, Bobbi's is NOT open today. Guess all you professional women will have to wait a little longer....

Any news on price point, style quotient, featured brands?

No, I'm not really sure. I think this store will be geared towards "professional" women so I'm guessing it will be a little on the higher end and will cater to a more "adult" clientele than some stores. Then again, I really have no idea so I probably shouldn't be saying that!

That's true about the shoe store--it will also have handbags and gifts....again geared for "professional" women. The owners want to offer shoppers the kind of options that they would have to drive to Mpls or Winnipeg for.

Thanks Wendian! can we expect another locally owned store, or is this one going to be a chain. Sounds like "professional" women will have a whole strip mall to call home. Sure beats the usual formula of a cell phone store, master cuts, and a tax place that has dominated the strip mall landscape in town.

Guess what, Ben. The strip mall is also going to have a Verizon store. Yes...every new strip mall in GF has GOT to have a cell phone store.

BTW, Computer Renaissance which previously was going to go into the strip mall is now going to stay in their current location.

Not seeing a sign anywhere on that strip mall stating Bobbi's yet.

On a side note, It's official that the foundation in front of Kohl's is in fact Golden Corral. Saw the sign today.

Ben: the shoe store will be locally owned. One of the owner's sisters operates a similar shop in the Chicago area.

I am the reader who sent in the tip to GFGuy and since I went the strip mall today I thought I better write and apologize - Bobbie's is not open...
The pavement is not even complete to enter the strip mall so I'm guessing the opening was pushed back one week.

Sorry...

No problem, anonymous. I'll put an "update" at the end of the blog post.
