Open Thread #1

I'm going to blatantly rip off Dakota Huseby and start having an "Open Thread" from time to time. What can you talk about in an open thread like this? Anything you want! Use it like a message board and post anything that's on your mind. I think this might also be a good source of post ideas for me.

Comment away!

Topics covered: Grand Forks' new Kohl's store, southend traffic flow, GFK terminal

Ok, I'll start something.
What does anyone think of the new Kohl's? I like their shoe department, and found a new pair of pants, but not much more than that. I was surprised I didn't see more that I liked.
Anyone?

What kinds of items (clothing, household, furniture, etc.) were you hoping to see at Kohl's that you didn't?

I've only been to Kohl's once...last Saturday. It was extremely busy. Traffic in that part of town was crazy. The intersection of 34th Street and that road right south of Culver's was nuts.

Anyways...the store. I like it pretty good. I've never been a big Kohl's shopper...actually, I don't think I've ever purchased anything at a Kohl's. Still, I think it is GREAT to have Kohl's in GF...one less reason to go to Fargo (now, if we could just get that Olive Garden that so many people seem to want so badly). Our new Kohl's is great looking, inside and out. I've heard a few people say that the store isn't "big enough" or that there aren't "enough" women's clothes. It seemed pretty big to me and the women's section seems large. People always have to find SOMETHING bad, huh?

Did everyone get that free $10 coupon for use at the store during this grand opening period? It expires on Saturday so I think I'll be making a trip there tomorrow or on Saturday to use my coupon. A $10 coupon isn't the kind of thing you want to waste!

Anon. - I guess I was hoping to see more clothes that I liked. I seem to have a hard time finding just the right look - I'm too old for juniors, (and don't really want my clothes to look worn out before the tags are off) and yet there seemed to be very little else that also wasn't too mature. But I will keep checking back. Hope springs eternal!

When does sour cream go bad?

It's not really an illusion- it's all in your head

I went into the store for the first time last week. It is a little small by most Kohl's standards, but yet, the stores I frequented back in Indiana were all attached to shopping malls. This store, as a stand-alone facility is much smaller. While the selection is still comparable, one other item I'm not particularly fond of is the men's department. It is smaller than that found at most other department stores and the inventory is MUCH smaller than that of the women's department. The only thing I'll be shopping for there, however, will be shoes. Kohl's is a great place to get name-brand shoes at a very affordable price...

As long as we're talking stores, why hasn't something come along to fill the old Target area?

Bismarck has a spanking new airport terminal. Fargo announced a renovation/expansion and we are repaving the parking lot. Pathetic...

Anonymous, GFK will be getting a new terminal in the near future. And we're not talking 10-20 years here either. From what I've heard, expect to see a new terminal at GFK by the end of this decade. It's certainly something I'm waiting for...
