Choice Financial to open second bank in GF

Choice Financial, which already has a Grand Forks bank on 42nd Street near the Alerus Center, is currently constructing a second location in town. The new bank is being built as a part of the new strip mall complex under development on South Washington Street across from Aurora Medical Park.

As some of you may remember, this is the same area that Wells Fargo has announced plans to build a new bank at. I'm not sure if Wells Fargo is still coming. For that matter, construction may be already underway and I might have failed to notice it. Either way, this part of town seems to be really heating up. There are currently two strip mall buildings going up; one of which is two stories. In addition, a new Valley Dairy will soon be built and a large new senior citizen apartment complex - called "The View" - will also soon call the area home.

Great to see a new commercial district being developed to serve the extreme southern portions of the city. I wonder what else might be on the way?

Jeez, every time a new building goes up that looks like a promising new restaurant or retail store, it ends up being a bank. How many do we need?

"Hey, hon, we need to run into Forks this weekend."

"Oh, you're finally taking me to that nice restaurant?"

"No, babe, I have got a jones for making a withdrawal. Rawrrr."

You capture the mood well, Matt. Makes one wonder about banking, doesn't it? They all seem to prosper.

And as for "nice restaurant" in the Forks? Well...there's always another in the same ol', same ol' vein: Denny's. Oh, boy.

Hard to get excited about something so...plain.

The Wells Fargo sign is still up, however, it is at the corner of 47th and Washington, with no indication of imminent construction (ironic, as we opened a new account last summer at WF in expectation of having a convenient bank :-)

The construction a little bit north of there is where Choice will be going -- they've had a sign up for a month or so now. The two story building isn't a strip mall, though, it appears to be office space, at least according to yet another sign down there.

If you're in construction or the sign making business, south Grand Forks seems to be the place to be :-)

I used to work at Wells when they bought the land and they were waiting for other people to build so things would already be in place for them when they started construction.

Banks are still development. If more banks are going up that means more money is going through the community. If you look at Bismarck and Fargo there are always new banks opening up... it shows progress.

I think that's a very valid statement, vcsuvike.
