That's a pretty good deal for an entire season of a TV show. Better than those series that charge ya $50-60 for a season.

I had a chance to go to the River Cinema yesterday, WOW! I wowed never to go to the theaters here in GF again becasue the seats were so uncomfortable. I even went to Fargo when I really wanted to see movies, sad but true.

The seats are comfortable, they are showing the newest movies, they have several showing, and the price is CHEAP.

What can I say? Why go anywhere else? I am hooked.

Thanks for bringing such a great idea to EGF.

I visited the smaller Carmike twice over the last year taking one of my kids to the movie. Both times the bathroom was dirtier than a truck stop bathroom. I will never go to Carmike again...

Do you have a store or website to get/order "Ice Road Truckers" ? Thanks.

Oshie in the slammer...who knows what happened???

I used to always go to GFGoodribs on my birthday [coming up]. Does anyone know any other restaurants in town that offer a special deal on your birthday [I think Paradiso does].

Anonymous said...

Paradiso gives free meal, Texas Road house gives free dessert, and I believe Applebees does something along the lines of a free dessert.

Anonymous said...

Speedway does a free meal too I believe on your birthday.

Anonymous said...

I had to pay 1/2 price for my birthday meal at Speedway but that was still a good deal. You do get a free meal at Paradiso along with the honor of wearing the lice hat. I heard that Green Mill gives you a free personal pizza -- I'm not 100% positive if that is true though.

The Blue Moose has a birthday meal deal.

Is the movie-goer who complained about parking at the new EGF theater kidding? There is a HUGE parking lot behind the theaters. No reason to think there is not enough parking.

There is a HUGE parking lot behind the theaters

If this is your parking lot, it's hardly huge. In fact, it looks to be about half the size of the Carmike 10 lot. If the area to the northeast of the picture image is a parking area, it was full of snow the last time I was there, and no one was parking there.

Arial images aside, the River Cinema lot is shared with several restaurants, which the Carmike lots are not, and every time that I've been there, the lot was fairly well full. I've also heard numerous complaints from others about the parking situation.

Not to say I'd go somewhere else, as I clearly noted above, but it is an issue.

Anonymous said...

Don't forget that there's a couple parking lots just across the street at Cabela's. I don't think they're labeled "Cabela's Customers Only," but I guess that might come soon if many moviegoers start parking over there.

Bernie B of Fargo spoke on KFGO and gave inside info on what happened to Oshie. Many in elevator and other items. Check KFGO web site.

Anonymous said...

Dale,
I didn't even have to look at the map link you posted, but for those who did...you can see there is a parking lot from 2nd St. NW to 4th St. NW.
You might have to walk a bit, but what's wrong with a good movie and a good walk?

You need to get out more Dale.

I thought it was a very mediocre theater and a marginal experience. (Although the ticket prices were good.)

I thought that the River Cinema was supposed to be a stadium seating type theater? I saw National Treasure 2 there last Saturday (Dec 29) and had people several rows in front of me occasionally blocking the screen. What is it with guys and baseball caps that they need to take them off and wave them in the air during the movie?

I guess I'm spoiled by the family owned multiplex I go to down here in the Twin Cities... Where people in the row in front of you have their heads around the level of your knees instead of your chin.

Birthday meal specials - free meal at Muddy Rivers (21 and over only though) and Paradiso. I don't know of any others that give a free meal...

Blue Moose has an awesome birthday special - $10 off your meal on your b-day, then you get a free dessert coupon for your next visit.

Oshie and the New Hampsire player urinated on an elevator in the apartment building...really not a huge crime, but something you would hope wouldn't come from a team leader!

Anonymous said...

Ah, well that's your problem right there. Try going to a good movie next time! :-)

Well, my brother didn't have any interest in seeing Alien vs Predator Requiem or I Am Legend (which I did see New Years Day in that aforementioned theater that has me spoiled...). So that left National Treasure 2.

The River Cinema 12 wouldn't be so bad if my back didn't dislike those seats that much and they served Coke™ products. But considering I'd only be going to movies there around Christmas or the 4th of July, it won't bother me too much.

Although I can honestly say that the Carmike theaters had me totally 100% put off from attending movies in GF.

I guess the most annoying part is how everybody has been talking about how great the River Cinema is, but you have to take into account that everyone is comparing it to the Carmike and if you've been in a really good stadium seating theater, the River Cinema isn't much to talk about.

Anonymous said...

granted, the seats are not "true" stadium seats - meaning that the elevation from one row to another is not as extreme as in most staduims (or stadium theaters, for that matter) it is a HUGE step up from what people get at Carmike. The lobby feels like a small town theater, but the theaters themselves are nicely done, with high back seats that recline nicely. I went to I Am Legend, and liked the experience very much. I will definently go again...and the price sure doesn't hurt, either.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the info on Blue Moose. My birthday is coming up and Im a bit tired of Paradiso

As far as the Oshie thing, I heard that yes him and the other player did urinate in the elevator but I also heard that the elevator was broken and they had been stuck in it for quite some time and of course they had been drinking therefor needed to use the bathroom

Anonymous said...

How long were they stuck in the elevator? If it was a long wait why wouldn't that have been reported? That being said, I'm guessing because they were drinking too much they decided that peeing in an elevator wasn't a big deal. Kind of like how people think driving after drinking isn't a big deal. The only difference is nobody died in the elevator.

Anonymous said...

Oshie needs to grow up he isn't in Warroad anymore where just because he played hockey he received special treatment.

Anonymous said...

Does anyone really believe T.J. Oshie or any of the other Sioux players with the NHL in their future really give a wooden nickle what people think of them? For that matter do you think they care about anything but the seven figure deals they will be signing when they leave UND? If it's true he was peeing in public and got arrested for it SO WHAT? Do you have any idea how many people are peeing in public on a weekend in downtown Grand Forks at bar closing time? I'm not condoning his behavior or even saying it's right but come on people. If this was Joe Dirt the Aviation major from UND who got caught with his pants down do you think anyone finds out about it? If it was anyone but T.J. Oshie do you think the cops arrest him? Or do they just chew him out and send him home since apparently he lives in the same building... Some people can blow situations way out of proportion.

Anonymous said...

You clean it up then. Moron.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous at 1:25, lets stick you in a closed area for 1.5 hours after you have had alcohol, which suppresses ADH (makes you have to pee). GFPD blew it once again on this one.

Anonymous said...

I hope they didn't cross swords!

Anonymous said...

Let this be a lesson to all. If you're stuck in an elevator, climb out the top emergency panel and whiz down the shaft.

Anonymous said...

"Let this be a lesson to all. If you're stuck in an elevator, climb out the top emergency panel and whiz down the shaft."
Much better than p[eeing in the elevator where others have to ride. Is he even of age to drink yet?

Anonymous said...

Until this blog, I never even heard of this Oshie squirt. Hard to believe the average cop on the street would be any different than the general public and target a (gasp) UND hockey player.

C'mon. It's not the first time the kids have associated themselves with not being able to drink and be responsible.

Anonymous said...

I can most assuredly say that the officer who arrested Oshie and the New Hampshire player had no idea that either of them played hockey and for who...

Anonymous said...

Did I miss something? Was it reported that they were stuck in an elevator for 1 1/2 hours? Sometimes I get confused on this blog because people say stuff that isn't true. Just wondering if people are trying to defend this kid, or if that's what really happened.

Anonymous said...

Isn't the state obligated to release the evidence against this hockey player we idolize and are so outraged that GFPD is targeting? Judging by the amount of coverage I've seen on local and national media, this is a big deal, with major implications for Grand Forks' future!

Anonymous said...

Lucky for the kid; some people are required to register as sex offenders for whizzing in public.

Anonymous said...

I think being assigned to community service specializing in restroom detail would be sufficient punishment for the great crime of not being able to hold one's urine while trapped in an elevator after drinking. As has been pointed out before on this blog, we live in a pretty safe, wholesome place when an incident like this draws so much of our attention.

Anonymous said...

it is an open criminal case, and until it is closed it is against open records laws to release the report...and the evidence is that the cop saw him taking a whiz...what do you want released about that??

Anonymous said...

If the cop saw him peeing in the elevator was the cop stuck in there too? Otherwise, wouldn't the kid have been able to leave the elevator to get to a bathroom?
