Housecleaning

I've removed a few blogs from the "GF Blogs" section to the left. Each of these blogs hasn't been updated for a half a year or more so I see no real reason to keep them listed. The blogs that I'm removing include: Boyd Drive Follies, CulturePulse, GGFYP, and Maze of Feathers. If any of these blogs is regularly updated again, I'll be more than happy to re-list them. Also, any new posts to these blogs will still show up in the news feed on the left. I kind of hate to do this, but I want to keep this blog up-to-date. Next up, the "ND Blogs" list.

Is there no value in dated text? Grand Forks Life lists an archive of it's own material, which may occasionally have current relevance. If this respected and frequented site continues to build a reputation as repository for our regional history via the lens of our web culture, links to any existing Grand Forks blog should be maintained.

Hey Elucidarian, I hope I didn't offend you too much. Actually, this might be just the kick in the pants some of you guys need to start blogging again. If you get back to blogging, Maze of Feathers will be restored to the "GF Blogs" list. Also, like I said, any new posts will still show up in the news feed.

"links to any existing Grand Forks blog should be maintained"

Does a blog really exist if it hasn't been updated for months?

Hey...speaking of some of these MIA blogs and bloggers...whatever happened to Good Old Boy or JGS?

Why isn't this blog: http://www.areavoices.com/bizbuzz/ listed here? Its a lot more interesting to most people here than Archaelogoy of the Meditteranean World is.

GFG, allow me to translate: He's not saying he's offended, he's saying your policy is misguided and your actions poorly thought out.

You could say it depends on the nature of the material. You're primarily a news blog. People come here for gossip, verifications, and updates. It is in your interest to stay current.

But, your blog also serves as a time-line. A person can follow the progress of events by perusing your older posts. They can gleam a historical perspective. Thus, you also have lasting value as an archive.

If all we cared about was the news, libraries would consist only of daily papers and monthly magazines, with no back issues.

Elucidarian, just because Maze Of Feathers isn't listed in my blogroll, it doesn't mean that anybody who wants to can't still go to it. I can't imagine that being listed on my blogroll either makes or breaks a blog.

I understand your argument, but I'm not sure that I can totally go along with it. I'm so tired of seeing outdated websites out there...I want my personal site, this blog, to stay current. Including links to blogs that are no longer updated isn't staying current.

Just start blogging regularly and you'll be listed here again. I would love to see your blog listed again.

...and Bizz Buzz is now listed...it had slipped my mind...

So you were kind of messing with my mind? Interesting!

If you want an apology, I'll give it to you...I HATE how some people can never say the words "I'm sorry." So yes, I'm sorry that I came to the conclusion to remove links to dormant blogs...just not sorry enough to put them back yet! :)

I still would love to see you go at it again. Maybe you should find your blogging niche and go from there. I bet you've gotten way more hits because of this "controversy" than you've been getting in recent weeks and months, huh? Take advantage of the publicity...start blogging again! It's fun.

Hey, elucidarian...I'm a little confused. I thought Maze of Feathers replaced Elucidarian's Nest, but now I see that EN has been updated in the last few months. I had removed EN from the blogroll long ago. What is the status of these blogs and why do you have two? I'm confused.
