Heels Boutique now open

Heels Boutique, a new locally-owned, upscale women's shoe store, is now open in the strip mall in front of Kohl's. The boutique is located right next door to Bobbie's, a locally-owned women's clothing store. Synergy!

It's great to see two new local businesses sprout up in one of the city's newest strip malls. Any rumors out there about other businesses coming to this strip mall or the other new ones at University Village and across from the Aurora Medical Park? All three are being developed by the same company. Surely, we can expect a Starbucks in at least one of them. I would love to see a Panera Bread open up in one of the strip malls.

As for the one on south Washington -- All strip malls in the Forks are required to have a Subway and cell phone store, so those are assumed. Beyond that... a discount hair place is pretty likely, chuck in a Starbucks and maybe another Subway for good measure, and it's full up.

Exactly. Pretty formulaic. I'd just add tanning salon, but that could be combined with the discount hair.

Lets not forget Curves.

Hey. Aren't you the same folks that always wanted to belike Fargo? :o)

Well...you got it...

It will of course need a payday loan establishment.

I was in getting my hair cut at the discount hair salon :) in the University Village strip mall the other day, and they said the only place they know for sure that is going into the one in U. Village is a military recruiting office. Strange location...but if it's the feds paying the rent, I guess they will foot the bill for the high price.

A military recruiting office right on the UND campus? That's not such a good thing, in my opinion....

I've heard about these two new Snap Fitness locations coming to town (I forget who mentioned them). Maybe they'll go into the new strip malls? I heard that a gym was looking at the Grand Junction space at Happy Harry's Plaza so maybe that's where one of the Snap Fitness locations is going. For those who don't know, Grand Junction is moving to South Washington.

Is Grand Junction moving, or creating a second location? I was hoping for a second location, and that in said location, the micro-management that results in chicken being weighed by the micron would be absent.

They should have their choice of overcharging for their subs or micro managing the ingredients, but not both. Grand Junction charges about eight bucks for a sub with less than a dollar's worth of food in it. It's no wonder we rarely go there, although the subs taste great.

FWIW, the "Snap Fitness" web site lists the south end one going in at "32nd and Washington", which suggests the old Mini Mart or the building that Liberty Tax is in (which would be my guess.) Unless they're going to open up some sort of "tent gym" in a parking lot or the cemetary.

Dale, the new location is just a relocation...not a second restaurant. An unusual move, if you ask me. Maybe the rent is cheaper at the new place...

I have to say that I've only been to Grand Junction once. I thought the food was very good, but I also thought the prices were very steep for that type of restaurant and, if I remember correctly, the service wasn't so hot.

That's nuts. They're going from a pretty good location (when we did go there, it was usually feeding a fair number of UND students,) to an awful one. Tucked behind a run down and abandoned service station hardly seems a "high traffic" area.

Maybe they figure their loyal patrons will follow them over. Kind of doubt it. Me, when I want an eight dollar sandwich, it's the cheesesteak at Mamma Marias, just a few blocks from the new GJ location.

At least there they have the decency to do any ingredient weighing out of my sight.

... and to follow up on my own post, I drove by the corner of 32nd and Washington this evening, and if they're in the process of putting in a fitness centre, they're doing it very stealthly. Not one sign of any new businesses down there.

panera bread would be a welcome addition for grand forks.

Wait, so where exactly does Grand Junction plan to move on Washington? I know I like to eat there once in a while. It's a little spendy, but good food.

JGS, I believe the new location is on the south end of the old Town and Country Shopping Center. That's the strip mall across the street from the Grand Cities Mall...the strip mall with Blockbuster, that dollar store, the thrift store, Hanky Panky gifts, etc. The new restaurant will be directly behind that empty gas station that sits in front of the strip mall.
