Grand Forks Life is the first and biggest blog covering life in the city of Grand Forks, North Dakota. GrandForksGuy shares local news, rumors, and his own opinions.
Hey, GrandForksGuy - Do you have any more Grand Forks postcards? I thought those were pretty cool, and you happened to post a building I work in ^.^ Otherwise, looking back through this blog, it's been a good run so far. There has to be something to talk about!
Does anyone have DVD of "Ice Road Truckers" or recorded tv show that was on History Channel. 10 shows about 350 miles of truckers going over frozen lake beds in northern Canada. Like to watch again or make copies for others. greenglass4.
You do realize that you've just violated the DMCA by asking that, right? Whether it was aired or not, it's still a copyrighted program, and you can't just willy-nilly copy it.
"You do realize that you've just violated the DMCA by asking that, right?"
bwahahahahaha! I can only assume that you are joking, but forgot to put the prerequisite "lol" after your post.
But perhaps you are seriously trying to act as an enforcement wing for the evil monopolists that rape and pillage our freedoms?
That "act" was blatant hoodwink put on by the enormously powerful entertainment lobbyist groups. The best interest's of American's were never at the heart of that "act".
I also wonder why you lashed out at greenglass for simply asking to share the show, but didn't address my offer to provide a source. Seems as if the priorities of your DMCA "enforcement" brigade are perhaps slightly out of whack.
Joking? No, not joking -- he's seriously violating the DMCA by asking for copyrighted material and saying that he's going to pass it along to others. You (I guess, too many anonymous posters) are similarly violating it by offering a copy.
Whether I agree with the DMCA or not (and, as a libertarian, I clearly disagree with it,) is irrelevant -- if you don't like the law, you change it, you don't merely disregard it, not without exposing yourself to the rather draconian consequences.
On the off chance that greenglass wasn't aware that asking, in a public forum, for someone to duplicate DVDs for him is against the law, I don't see much harm in noting it, and I certainly don't see my post as "lashing out."
As the last gasp of a dying industry, whose departure will not be mourned by me, the DMCA is, in my opinion, an affront to true American values. Sadly, it's had plenty of company this past decade, as freedom after freedom goes by the boards, with nary a protest.
Thanks for your reply and thoughtful comments. I see now that I had misinterpreted your intentions, rather it would appear as if we are both opposed to the concept of the DMCA. Although I don't agree with waiting until that nearly insurmountable lobby is rendered impotent *before* I will share educational and informative media, I can respect those that feel that way.
Anyways, I understand your point better now, no offense intended with my earlier reply... issues like this need spirited debate if they are to wind up favorably for us here in America.

I'm first.
I'm sick of open threads.

Hey Alex. I have quite a few more and know where to find even more. What building(s) are you interested in?
eBay always has old G.F. postcards on sale. Just search "Grand Forks".

Hi greenglass... do you do Bittorrent? If so, the complete Ice Road Truckers series is available to share and download.

Hey GF'ers,
I think there was an open thread about the dentists in town. Anyone remember which one that was? I'm looking for a new dentist here.
Thanks!
Dakota Dental. I've been very happy. A bit pricy, but easy to work with.
