I'm happy to see that snow removal after the first two big snowfalls has been excellent. Now if they could only make a couple of snowplow passes DURING a major storm, there would be nothing to improve. Being new here, I've already learned that you don't go anywhere in town when it has snowed six inches and hasn't stopped.
I gave them a "D". They do a good job of clearing the streets but they should come back and take their snow out of peoples driveways where the plows stuck it.
Not everyone can deal with the junk pushed up by the plow.
I was in Colorado a couple weeks back and after seeing their snow removal, I think GF has some of the best. Side streets and alleys are done within a day or 2 max here. (I have only alley access and I am not near the corner so I need quick help) In CO they barely got to the main roads the first day and none of the side streets by the next day. Almost like they were not expeting snow or they were waiting for it to thaw so they did not have to do the work.
I sometimes wonder if the people that live here, have ever been anywhere else that receives snow. DC practically shuts down when it snows. There are worries that the Metro (public transportation) will shut down after more than one or two inches. I have a co-worker that lived in Sioux Falls before moving here and he couldn't leave his house for two days after a storm once. Even the winter of 96-97, I was able to leave my place within two days.
Needs more sand
Compared to ther locations we have the best snow removal around.
I'm a delivery driver, and when the weather gets bad people don't go out, and order delivery more. In my opinion EGF has much better than GF snow removal. Partially because they do passes "During" the storm. Thank you EGF for making my job that much safer.
P.S. I read a poll that listed "Delivery Driver" at #5 for most dangerous professions. Which is why you should tip well so we can pay for all the things like gas, and tires so we can get you your food hot.
