Ashley Furniture now open

The new Grand Forks Ashley Furniture HomeStore is now open on 32nd Avenue South. The store is located just east of the new Kohl's store.

This is just the first of two large furniture stores set to open in south Grand Forks this year. The new Furniture Row store south of Lowe's will open in the near future.

Grand Forks' retail scene seems to have been a little lacking in the furniture area lately. Hopefully these two new stores will give people more options than were available in the past. One less reason to go to Fargo, huh?

...as if one could afford the gas to go to Fargo...

We just went there, and I'm sorry to say... so long, Conlin's, it was nice to have you here. Good quality stuff (though not in the super high end,) and excellent prices. I don't know what Furniture Row is going to bring to the game, but every other furniture store in town had best start thinking how they respond to these guys.

Both Ashley and Kohls were absolutely mobbed today as well, though I imagine that Victoria Day crowds are all over the city.

Conlin's, Slumberland, and Zimmerman's can all say good-bye. I can't see there being enough business from Grand Forks locals to keep these three stores alive, with the arrival of furniture row and this place.

I am very excited that we are getting new businesses put up, that just means a bigger city and steadier growth, HOORAY!!!

I currently live in Boise, Idaho--formerly GF--where we have both stores. Great furniture at both locations, a little expensive for the mid-range shopper, and the delivery sometimes takes a few months (they'll tell you it's fabric problems but really they need to fill a truck to those stores before they'll ship). Honestly, we have a lot more options here but the deals ashley has every spring are well worth looking into. Avoid the summer sales and enjoy what should be a much broader selection of furniture...I miss the RED PEPPER...
