Baby boutique coming to downtown
Downtown Grand Forks will soon be home to a new baby and maternity boutique named Adley Anne's. The owner, Holly Schneider, will lease 4,500-5,000 square feet of space at 224 North 4th Street. That building previously housed Cherished Moments, a wedding store which recently moved to the Grand Cities Mall. Schneider has submitted a Renaissance Zone application which, if approved, would result in a five-year state income tax exemption.

First the wedding and then the babies. Fitting, I would guess!
I am very excited for this store! Any ideas on when it should open?
Greg S got over 1/3 of million dollars from FEMA to keep TV Store downtown but ran to 32nd street and put up new store ! Only took 11 years to open a business on 4th street ! Better late than never ! And you guys talk about Larry O ! What do you think ? downtown insider
Greenglass (aka "downtown insider"), are you saying that there hasn't been another business in this location since the flood? Can you say "Cherished Moments?"
@grandforksguy
Can you say "Boring?"
"Boring" is someone taking the time to enter all the information to make a blog comment entry that says "boring."
and maybe commenting on that comment is too?
Glad to see people in this town are supportive of others (Being Sarcastic)... Sometimes being happy that a new business is opening and checking it out isn't a bad thing.
With all due respect, it isn't the community's job to be supportive of a business, local or not. It is the business' job to provide a service that the people want and are willing to pay for.
I couldn't care less if a business is locally owned, it's not my problem. If it caters to my needs, I'll shop there. If it doesn't, I won't.
I think the location is crappy, so hopefully the need will make up for that.
I love to see things come downtown, but the bridal store went under for a reason...
I just think bars and eateries do OK downtown, but retail tends to struggle.
If you are going out shopping, you tend to go to the mall/target/kohls/that area where every retail store is located, so by the time you've hit all that, do you really want to drive all the way downtown? It better be nice enough to spur the "special trip" shopping.
I believe the post said " . . . Cherished Moments, a wedding store which recently moved to the Grand Cities Mall. "
Not that it went under.
It was probably so successful it outgrew it's space.
I don't understand why people are so cranky so often on this blog. I guess some people just have to complain about anything and everything either because they're way too bored with their own lives, or in order to stoke their own egos.
Nice scoop. the Herald reported on this a week ago... Nice.
I am cranky that I have to drive all the way to the Cities for a good bagel!
I am thinking that if you drove to the cities for a good bagel, you have other issues...lol
Yeah, especially when Fargo has Boppa's Bagels.
I was at Cherished Moments at its new location. It's a larger space with more dressing rooms than I remembered the old location having. I think there's still some changes to be made to the new space, but rest assured, they did not go under.
I find if funny that people consider the drive from Target to downtown a "special trip" - honestly, how long does it take? Maybe 10 minutes, tops? That's just an excuse to justify pouring cash into the big box stores and ignoring everything else.
Re: 1:26 PM, August 24, 2008
I justify pouring cash into a big box store either because the price is the lowest, or maybe I can buy for 18 months, no interest. If there is a store downtown that has a product I need, I will drive there.
It's such a hoot when people in Grand Forks say a specialty business will or will not succeed based exclusively on location. It's not like anyplace is either dangerous or a long distance.
Whether you have a casual interest in baby care or you are fanatical about finding out all you can, we've got all that you need right here.
