New poll: GFK to Vegas

It's about time for a new poll, huh? The new question is "Will you use Allegiant Air's new flight from GFK to Las Vegas?" I'll be interested to hear from you guys. I would also like to hear about other possible destinations that you're interested in.

I wish alligiant air was a connecting airline. When I search for tickets from GFK it only gives me the option of going to Las Vegas. I was hoping to connect to other cities, what a rip off.

I am excited that Allegiant is coming to Grand Forks. Its an inexpensive way to go to Vegas. Kudos to the airport for landing them. I hope people will support the new airline

I hope it's successful so they add a Phoenix/Mesa flight as well. Then the airline starts to become more useful for businesspeople and snowbirds.

Since it goes to Vegas from Fargo, it would have made more sense to go somewhere else from GFK, since we are so close together... They go to Orlando from Sioux Falls, but that's quite a hike from here.

Allegiant charges $11 for a seat assignment. Makes it seem that the fare just gets you on the plane.

Well Dale, think outside the box ! I often fly to a city and then take a rental car to another city/state. Vegas to Cal or Cal to Vegas. Put a little excitement in your life. Just a random thought. greenglass4

Barbara,

I was thinking the same thing. It seems like they could make better use of their equipment and fly with fuller planes if they didn't duplicate service between GF and Fargo. For example GFK could fly to Las Vegas and Phoenix and Fargo to Orlando and San Francisco.

24 daily flights to the Olive Garden in Fargo please!

And as for Northwest:

"Northwest Airlines Corp. said on Wednesday it will cut 2,500 jobs because of high oil prices, and will begin charging $15 to check a single piece of luggage and as much as $100 to redeem a frequent-flier award ticket."

As someone who lives in Florida and has business interests and family in North Dakota, I have to say that a direct flight from Orlando to Grand Forks, or even Fargo, would be a dream come true for me.

In order to get from Tampa to Grand Forks without spending a lot of money, I have to take a flight from Tampa International to Hartsfield-Jackson in Atlanta. Then, after a layover, I have to fly into Minneapolis and drive the rest of the way. It would cost me over $300 just to go an extra 350 miles, when my flights from Tampa to Minneapolis are a grand total of around $140.

I, along with my girlfriend, my roommate and a number of friends I have down here that are originally from GF, would visit family and friends up there a WHOLE HELL of a lot more often if an Orlando to GF or Fargo flight opened up. Not to mention the flights those same family and friends would take down here to see us as well!

"we'd have a lot less airlines pretty quick."

That may well be the case anyway.

Hey Dale, I like road trips ! My girlfriend and I drove from Fargo to San Fran for a conference in Sunnyvale, Cal at the Hilton Garden Inn. And drove back too. Way too much fun. Try it sometime, can improve your marriage/relationship. greenglass4

I'm definately taking advantage of the $99 fares they are running until the end of the month. I've got friends out there that I might not be able to afford to fly to see soon.+

I could not use Allegiant to fly to Las Vegas over Teacher's Convention. Why? I had to fly out on Friday and return on Monday. I paid the extra bucks to fly out on Thursday and return on Sunday.

Allegiant seems to use a lot of northern US border cities to attract Canadian flyers, as they don't fly to Canada. Bellingham, Washington (sixt miles from BC) has Allegiant flights to San Fran, San Diego, Palm Springs, Reno, LV, and Mesa. Plattsburgh, NY (an hour from Montreal) has flights to Ft Lauderdale and Orlando. IF Sioux Falls can get an Orlando flight, maybe a Winnipeg/Grand Forks market can support it.

For a weeks stay in LV, one could take a side trip to California on another Allegiant flights, provided you stay in Vegas on the first and last day.

It make more sense to swap those since the architecture and planning has already been done to have Allegiant flying to Vegas from Fargo.

Yep. I'll be using this service from GF rather than driving to Fargo as we have done for the past 2 years.

This is going to work very well. There is no chance for another airline to come into GFK, there was not before and sure not now. We should be very happy with what we have instead of whining that we have to fly east to go west. I might use it to fly to Vegas to go to Sedona since I do not like Vegas and I have spent a lot of time there.
