Rhombus Pizza quotes
I just happened to be checking out the website for Rhombus Pizza and couldn't help but notice a couple of quotes that looked familiar. Check out the bottom of the website. Here we see positive quotes from "Lisa" and "Tom." Actually, the quotes were originally comments from this blog back last April...check out the last comments on this blog post. The funny thing is, both of those comments were by anonymous readers. Where did the Rhombus guys get "Lisa" and "Tom" from?

How is their pizza anyway?
I heard from my friend Lisa that "These guys have the best pizza I've had in grand forks, hands down! I hope they do well!!" , while my friend Tom said They have amazing pizza, and good drink specials... ask the one of the owners about sake bomb.
I guess I should check this place out.

The thing is, I agree with Tom and Lisa
I don't think it is a copyright issue, I think it is simply an integrity issue. To avoid being called out, maybe they should have posted a request for those individuals who posted anon to provide a name to go with the quote. I mean for all I know, the original poster could have been affiliated with the place.
Plus, it wouldn't be hard to get a legitimate (name included) quote to testify if their pizza is good. Just do an easy promotion where you have patrons write down why they love the place and for the 3 or 4 quotes you choose, give those individuals a free pizza.
Surprising that they didn't use the full length review from Grand Forks Dining blog, which was also favorable.

Would positive quotes actually influence you to buy a pizza from somewhere? No different then hotel owners putting fake comments on the hotel review websites.
I noticed their web pages are copyrighted.

Wait a minute...they take comments from my blog, apply names to them, and then use the quotes on their copyrighted website to promote their restaurant and you blame me for "calling them out?" I really don't have such a problem with them using the quotes, but I see no reason why I shouldn't be able to comment on this. Instead of me contacting Rhombus before I "call them out," how about Rhombus trying to contact me or the "anonymous" reviewers before they use the quotes on their website? I'm thrilled to have an independent restaurant like this downtown, but your line of reasoning is silly.

Much ado about nothing... great pizza, though.
I really like Rhombus. This just show poor judgment in marketing. Word of mouth has been their best advertising.
What about an Olive Garden reference?
Patrons of Olive Garden are of higher caliber; they don't feel the need to brag about themselves.

You are quite right, grandforksguy (see above quote). I actually posted the first quote after going to Rhombus a little while after it opened. I still think they DO have the best pizza in town, but my name is CERTAINLY NOT Lisa... (I'm a guy).
I don't fault them for using the quotes, but it seems a little odd that they just MADE UP names for the real posters...
"I'm not Lisa, my name is..." (old country song from 1975 or so). Could be a new, twisted ad campaign for Rhombus Guys!
let's focus on their food, service, and atmosphere. not their attempt at getting a website running in order to take their small business into the age of technology and networking. Actually, this is one of the rhombus guys. we had someone develop a site for us, and they just added those quotes without asking anybody, apparently. We still haven't figured out how to change a lot of the stuff that was put on their originally. Also, feel free to join The 'Rhombus regulars' group on facebook.
