Newsbits: city website, Hansen Ford

Changes to city website...
The long-overdue update to the city of Grand Forks' website is finished. Check it out here. It's nice to see that the city realized that something had to be done to the city's depressing and inadequate website.

I haven't had too much time to check out the changes. However, at first glance it looks like a bit more effort could have been spent making the site more attractive and up-to-date. Still, I'm very happy to see that forms have been added for citizens to make requests about repairs to streetlights and sidewalks. This was something that I suggested to the city some time ago. Not sure why it took so long to implement...

I'll have to spend some time tomorrow checking out the site a bit more thoroughly. In my opinion, any changes were an improvement over the old site. However, the website should be as attractive and user friendly as possible...this is our official presence on the Internet!

Hansen Ford to change name?
Rumor has it that Hansen Ford is in the process of being sold and the name could likely change as a result.

Considering the Rydell family's penchant for expansion - and their fortune - could "Rydell Ford" be on the way? That's just speculation on my part, though.

Welcome back.

In your absence, the GF blogging community went kinda' crazy on the city website. (Check out Grand Forks City Beat) And it was none too flattering.

I have to admit, they certainly didn't have very high expectations for themselves ;)

If there's one thing that Wes Rydell's ostentatious house on Belmont and 32nd says to me, it's "I already have enough of your money." The guy's garage is listed by the city as being worth more than my house! (And before you laugh about my house, his garage is worth over $200,000) I think if it becomes "Rydell Ford," I'll do my car shopping out of the area. I bought my latest car from Hanson and was pretty happy with the purchase.

I can't get on Another GF Blog today. "URL not found." Is it just me or has CoffeeGuy called it quits?

Dave,

I couldn't agree more and have said so on various blogs, but if you want to see a GF site that's doing things slightly better and is also a first impression for visitors to GF, try

visitgrandforks.com

Check out the CVB's Visitor Guide. You can request online. It rocks.

If I remember correctly there would never have been a "Hansen Anything" without Rydell's help.

I'd like to see the Starlite come back to that location.

I understand it is an out of state consortium of buyers that purchased Hansen's. They own a large group of dealerships already. There is talk of a new dealership west of I-29 for the Ford products, and Toyota will move to the current site on 32nd.

Just heard that, that's all I'm saying....

Interesting news, GOB...thanks for sharing it. I'm sure a new Ford dealership would be very impressive. The current Hansen's building is very nice...I would be interested in seeing what an even newer building would be like.

I'm also wondering how the new Muscatell Subaru dealership that is planned for west of I-29 is coming along...I haven't heard anything lately.

Dave, you are wrong. GFCVB design work is done by a local (regional) company. It's the same agency that did the work for Dakota Harvest Bakers.

It would be nice to have a more aggresive toyota dealership in town. I've never been impressed with hansen toyota.

Rumor I heard is that the selling of Hansen does not include the Toyota dealership.

I heard Friday night the whole works was sold, even the Toyota.
They've been hurting ever since they built the new building.
